Travis Wheeler

Teaching Assistant Professor

Travis Wheeler received his Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky in May 2024. Travis has 8 years of teaching experience in multiple capacities, including Recitation Leader and Instructor of Record. As an Instructor of Record, he has taught College Algebra, Calculus I, Math for Elementary Teachers, and Business Calculus. For research, Travis is interested in representation theory in higher categories. Specifically, his research utilizes bicategorical traces to define a character theory for 2-representations. Bicategorical traces are a generalization of the trace of a matrix, but for bicategories. In his spare time, Travis is an avid pool player and enjoys hiking and fishing in the summer.
