Junior Modelers Program (JuMP)
If you’ve ever wondered what a mathematical model is and how one can be used to better understand biology, inform public health decisions, or provide recommendations that improve an individual’s health outcomes, the Junior Modelers Program (JuMP) for UT undergraduate students welcomes your application, especially if you’re a complete beginner!
JuMP will introduce you to the fundamentals of building mathematical models and coding in Python to study these models and confront them with data, all while working collaboratively to answer questions of importance to our health and the well-being of the world around us. Students with a background in college algebra, or the equivalent, are encouraged to apply.
The program is 10 weeks long, beginning February 28, 2022. Funded participants will receive $15 per hour, 10 hours per week, for a total of $1,500.
These participants will have the opportunity to continue the program for three consecutive semesters, and have the opportunity to participate in summer research.
