Luís Finotti received his BS and MS from the University of São Paulo . He's received his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin under the supervision of Felipe Voloch.
He was a post-doc at the University of California Santa Barbara (for three years), under the supervision of Adebisi Agboola , and a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Ohio State University (for two years).
Luís has been at the University of Tennessee since 2006.
His main areas of interest are Algebraic Number Theory and Arithmetic Geometry , in particular liftings of curves (from characteristic p to characteristic 0), computational aspects and applications.
