ADDRESS
Maggie Sullens
Lecturer
Maggie’s research ranges from analyzing the impact of industry collapse on community mental health, understanding budget allocation and illegal fishing dynamics, along with physiological stress responses . Through innovative hybrid mathematical modeling, Maggie uncovers insights into complex biological and ecological questions including the connections between humans and the environment. Her work not only enhances our understanding but also informs policymakers and decision-makers, guiding interventions and resource allocation for more effective conservation and community support.
She has taught at UTK since Fall 2019 when she was hired on as a GTA. She has taught several lower level math classes and enjoys making a unique connection with her students every semester. Her favorite part of teaching is finding a way to present material for each class and responding to the individual learning styles of the class and each student. She looks forward to the opportunity to continue to make a connection with students in a lecturer position.
As hobbies, Maggie enjoys spending time with her Greyhound, Saber. They regularly go on walks, hikes, swims, and trips. She is also a coffee enthusiast that loves trying different beans, brew styles, and coffee shops.
